Next, you'll meet the dentist assigned to your visit for a conversation before anything clinical happens. The exam itself covers your teeth, gums, bite, and jaw, and usually includes digital X-rays if you're a new patient or it's been a while since your last set. Digital X-rays use a fraction of the radiation of older film X-rays and the images are available to review with you immediately on screen.

If a cleaning is included in your visit, that happens next — scaling and polishing to clear plaque and tartar buildup. If you have sensitivity, let the team know beforehand and they'll pace things accordingly or use a numbing gel.

At the end, we walk through what was found: anything worth monitoring, anything that needs treatment, and a realistic timeline if further appointments are needed. You'll leave with a clear picture rather than a vague "see you in six months."
